Specialized Langster - Now With Brakes That Work!

My Langster '08 is a great bike, but the brakes leave a lot to be desired. The pads supplied seem to be constructed from some sort of compressed peanut husks or something. I was finding that they had a tendency to collect aluminium shards and other debris from the rim and form little pearls on the surface of the pad. Once this happens, the brakes only serve to make a bit of a rubbing noise rather than actually stop the bike.
Thankfully, the stock blocks are Tektro's knockoff of Shimano's Dura Ace brakes, so I bought some kool stop salmon cartridges.
Now my bike stops even if it's raining.
